New appointments of UniCat scientists


Dr. Aysu Yarman has accepted a call to the Turkish German University in Istanbul (Türkisch-Deutsche Universität). Since 01 May 2016 she has been an assistant professor at the Faculty of Natural Sciences (FEN). In 2012 Aysu Yarman obtained her PhD from Potsdam University in the group of Prof. Frieder Scheller (UniCat Research Field E3). Thereafter, she worked as PostDoc on the combination of MIPs with enzymes.

Prof. Dr. Inez Weidinger has accepted an offer from the Technische Universität Dresden for a full professorship of electrochemistry which she started in October 2016. From 2011 - 2016 Inez Weidinger was a junior research group leader in UniCat working in Research Fields D3 and E3 and a guest professor at TU Berlin.

Prof. Dr. Regine von Klitzing has accepted an offer from the Technische Universität Darmstadt for a full professorship in physics which she took up in March 2017. She was a full professor at the TU Berlin from 2006 - 2017 and one of the first members of UniCat in 2007, working in Research Fields C1 and E3 until 2013.

Dr. Stefan Enthaler has accepted an appointment for a guest professorship to the University of Hamburg (UHH). Since 1 October 2016, he has been teaching at the Institute of Inorganic and Applied Chemistry of UHH. Link to his new website: Prof. Dr. Stefan Enthaler. Stefan Enthaler was a junior research group leader in the Research Fields A4 and D3 in UniCat from 2009 - 2015.

Prof. Dr. Sabine Enders from TU Berlin (UniCat member since 2012, Research Fields D1 and D2) has accepted a professorship at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Prof. Enders started at the Institute of Technical Thermodynamics at KIT in summer 2015.

Prof. Dr. Andreas Möglich has accepted an appointment as full Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Bayreuth, which he took up on 1 April 2015. Andreas Möglich was junior research group leader in Research Field E4 from May 2011 to March 2015.

Dr. Anna Fischer has accepted an appointment for a full professorship at the University of Freiburg. In August 2014 the Fischer group moved to the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg and is now part of their Institute of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry. Only four of her UniCat doctoral candidates will be supervised by Dr. Fischer from afar until finishing their projects. Anna Fischer was junior research group leader in the Research Fields E2, D2, and E3 at UniCat, from November 2009 to July 2014. She was a member of UniCat's Executive Board from 2010 until 2014. Dr. Constantin Czekelius was an associate member of UniCat and junior scientist in Research Field E3 at FU Berlin. In 2013 he accepted a professorship at Heinrich Heine Universität Düsseldorf  where he is a professor for assymetric syntheses at the Institute for Organic Chemistry

Dr. Raimund Horn (principal investigator and junior scientist in Research Fields A1, C3, D1, and D2 in Prof. Schlögl's group) has accepted an appointment at the Hamburg University of Technology [Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH)]. Raimund Horn succeeds Prof. Frerich Keil at the Institute of Chemical Reaction Engineering of TUHH on 1 July 2013. Being involved in BasCat, Raimund Horn will continue to be connected to UniCat.

Dr. Claudio Greco (junior scientist in Research Fields D1 and D2 in Prof. Sauer's group) has accepted an appointment at Milan-Bicocca University at  the Laboratory of Molecular Modelling (LMM) as a lecturer (Ricercatore) starting on 1 November 2012. 

Dr.-Ing. Harvey Arellano-Garcia was a junior scientist at Prof. Günter Wozny’s group (Research Fields D1 and D2). In 2012, he accepted an appointment as senior lecturer at the University of Bradford, UK. Two years later, Harvey Arellano-Garcia became a Full Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Bradford​. Afterwards he became professor at University of Surrey, UK.

Prof. Dr. Marion Ansorge-Schumacher (former UniCat professor at TU Berlin and senior scientist in Research Fields C1, C2 and  E3) has accepted an appointment at TU Dresden. As of 1 October 2012, Marion Ansorge-Schumacher has been professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, Department of Biology.

Prof. Dr. Gerard Meijer (former UniCat professor at the Fritz Haber Institute and senior scientist in Research Fields A1, A2 and D1) has accepted an appointment at Radboud University Nijmegen. As of 1 September 2012, Gerard Meijer has held the position of President of the Executive Board of Radboud University Nijmegen.

Dr. Marek Sierka (junior scientist in Research Fields A1 and D1 in Prof. Sauer's group) has accepted an appointment at the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena. On 1 January 2012 he started as professor for Computational Materials Science at the Institute of Materials Science and Technology at the Faculty for Physics and Astronomy.

Dr. Thomas Risse (former  junior scientist in Prof. Freund's research group) has accepted an appointment for a W3 professorship at Freie Universität Berlin as  of October 2010. Risse is Prof. Christmann's successor at the Institute of Chemistry and Biochemistry at FU Berlin.
Prof. Thomas Risse has been remaining a member of UniCat, working on Research Fields B3 and B4 until 2011 and on D1 and D2 since 2012.

Prof. Dr. Andrea Hartwig (former UniCat professor at TU Berlin in Research Field C4) accepted an appointment to a professorship at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in 2010.  Prof Hartwig does research at Institute of Applied Biosciences.

Dr. Jens-Uwe Repke (former junior scientist in Prof. Wozny's research group; Research Field C4) was appointed to a W3 professorship at Technische Universität Freiberg in December 2009. In 2016, Dr. Repke returned to TU Berlin. Since then, he has been Chair of the Process Dynamics and Operations Group.

Dr. Anja Drews (former junior scientist in Prof. Kraume's Research group; Reseach Field C2) received an appointment to a lectureship at the University of Oxford (Jan 2009) and an appointment for a professorship at Hochschule für Technik and Wirtschaft Berlin (HTW Berlin) in October 2009.

Dr. Karsten Reuter (former junior scientist in Prof. Scheffler's research group at FHI; Research Fields A1, A2, and C3) received an appointment to a professorship at Technische Universität München starting in October 2009.

Dr. Thomas Renger (former junior scientist of a macromolecular modeling research group at FU Berlin; Reserch Fields B4 and B5) received an appointment to a professorship at Johannes Kepler University Linz starting in September 2009.
