The temporary Board of the Einstein Centre for Catalysis was constituted during a meeting of the extended UniCat Executive Board on April 26, 2016.
The Einstein Centre for Catalysis was founded in January 2016 and will commence its project-related research on November 1, 2017. The newly elected temporary Board mirrors the methodological competence as well as the membership of the universities that are involved as well as the associated research institutions.
The members of the temporary Board are:
- Prof. Dr. Peter Hildebrandt of the TU Berlin as Chair
- Prof. Dr. Matthias Driess of the TU Berlin, Chair of the Cluster of Excellence UniCat and Director at BasCat

The temporary Board will further develop a concept for the Einstein Centre for Catalysis, it will prepare the allocation of funds through a call for proposals and invite to the initial members’ meeting of the Einstein Centre for Catalysis. This members’ meeting will then elect a Board which will replace the temporary one.
The members’ meeting consists of those heads of working groups that carry out the projects as well as their research associates.
The temporary board invites all interested working groups to an informational meeting at which the criteria for participation and the terms of the call for proposals at the Einstein Centre for Catalysis will be announced. This meeting that was originally planned for June 22nd has been postponed. A new date after the summer vacation term will be announced.
The Einstein Centre for Catalysis is funded by the Einstein Foundation Berlin with a total of eight million Euros over a period of five years. The Einstein Foundation Berlin was founded in 2009 by the State of Berlin. The Foundation aims to promote science and research of top international caliber in Berlin and to establish the city as a center of scientific excellence.
