The fascinating world of technical chemistry
A tour through the technical chemistry laboratories. Here, catalysts are tested for the conversion of natural gas or biogas to ethylene. After the tour, the program item, “Signs of material change: natural gas instead of crude oil – from the cow to the plastic bag” is thematically fitting.
Currently, oil reserves are estimated to last for 40 years. Natural gas reserves, on the other hand, will last for at least 60 more years. Natural gas is too precious to simply burn.
It may soon replace crude oil as the most important raw material in the chemical industry. We will demonstrate that catalysis for the use of alternative energy sources is essential.
